Diamondz 2021

Opening remarks:

Welcome queens, kings, and monarchs of stardoll. I will keep it short and sweet. This blog came to life after several of us noticed and decided to address the need of the sdfb community for positive vibes and building each other up. We do realise that without trashing people it may miss the mark in this community, as so many of us live for the sd drama, however we are hopeful that it will actually be a hit that will bring smiles to your faces by building you and your friends up.

I would also like to take a minute here to thank Carolin and Bambi for their massive contribution to this project in the form of the beautiful graphics. You are absolute stars, thank you.

- Mila

So let’s get right into it, shall we?

The concept is simple: we have a judicial panel consisting of 8 judges. Each judge gets 5 votes they can use to support their favourite looks from each event along with a short comment on the supported looks. Obviously (or not?) judges cannot vote for their own looks. Finally, all the looks with a minimum of 2 votes get published in the review. I have scouted for judges on the sdfb, recruited my friends, as well as strangers, in an effort to bring you a diverse panel of judges with different styles and unique fashion senses. Here they are:

First off, we've got Mila - she came back to stardoll 2 months ago and now thinks she’s hot shit by starting this blog. Next to her you’ll see Lauryn of the Haus of LaHavas - a Chicago native who loves fashion, men, potato chips, and people who spell her name correctly. Then, meet Ru (Krul) - she’s the one that’s either binge designing, or going on a hiatus and slacking for half a year, leaving us completely wig-less and cool oriental accessories-less. After that, we’ve got Jane - known in some circles as the biggest socks collector and cat lover. Move your sight to the right and you’ll spot Mikatsi, who loves to have a good laugh with friends and to make outfits out of weird pieces of clothing. Next up, Jean, who spends way too much money but doesn’t even remember what she got; will shortly be on the lookout for a sugar daddy, so keep your eyes and wallets peeled, gents. I bet you’re not surprised to see our next judge, Alex, who’s known not only for her addiction to Starbucks and drunk giveaways, but also she’s always involved in something on here. Almost, as if she didn’t have a life. Finally, Aizie, known for being gay, rich, famous and his eternal love for male body parts.

Now what you are really here for - the reviews. Let’s be honest - the red carpet was filled with so many gorgeous looks it was almost impossible to choose just 5 favourites. Our panel struggled really hard but finally did it.

NOTEWORTHY LOOKS:

Fan favourites, our favourites, looks that deserve a massive round of applause. Bravo for Juvie Juba, Lauryn, and Nihil!

Juvie Juba

Lauryn: Is that Glenn Close? See, I am not a fan of the 80’s (even though I chose the same theme) to be honest but Juvie Juba is the only exception. They could have gone extra here but they kept it simple. The jacket is to die for. I love the iridescent finish and the speckled pattern on the lapel. The geometric sunglasses were the perfect touch.

Mikatsi: I love everything about this look; the details on the coat, the pointy shoes, the flashy sunglasses. What a way to represent the great 80’s era. Congrats to Juvie Juba for making this perfect representation of the bold 80’s glory!

Lauryn

Alex: Did someone say Glow Wrestler? I 100% love this 80s theme look. The neon leather and fishnet ensemble grabbed my attention immediately. Every detail from the brass knuckles to the studs on the jacket brought this look full together. Although you didn't open up a can of whoop ass but definitely stunted on everyone!

Jane: This look is the pure essence of 80's glam rock. I'm obsessed with your pairing of the black leather jacket and boots with the red cut-out latex body. The ensemble is quite daring in showing some flesh, yet not in excess. Every detail is well thought through, from the edgy hairstyle and intense make-up to the silver buckles and studs, the outfit screams 80's queen.

Nihil

Ru: This is unquestionably a serve. I honestly don’t know what caught my eyes most - the hair or the outfit. The hair ornaments and the details on the heels are a genius pairing. And this outfit- somehow manages to stand out amongst all the WOWness going on thanks to its vibrant colors. Yup, Nihil did her magic yet again!

Aizie: Nihil's outfits never fail to amaze me, she keeps serving us FASHION. As Ru said, her genius pairing is unmatchable, she always got me wondering ‘how does she come up with these things’. Love the colors and the edgy take on the cheongsam and the colors, not to forget the hair and how it screams in art!

HIGH TIER:

A fabulous look 100% worthy of the place on the podium. Massive congratulations to Kiedis!

Kiedis

Mila: I'm an absolute sucker for icy blonde vibes, so this look hits juuust the spot. The dress slightly reminds me of flapper dresses, with an elegant twist. The white fur is the best possible choice of additions to this look. She’s top tier and she knows it.

Jean: Kiedis definitely understood the assignement. The combination of fur and the Dolce Gabanna dress makes me think of one word: expensive. The dress has a lovely pattern, it contains beautiful straps and there is nice movement at the bottom of the dress. These heels are 100% made for this look, and I can't stop looking at the hair. A very good choice to go for a side parting. I obviously couldn't think of a negative point to mention.

Aizie: All I can think about looking at this is, how can someone be so elegant like that? I love the simple yet fancy feel of this look, it's giving me "I'm gonna steal ur man" vibes, very irresistible beauty that will make u do anything to please her. This to me, stole the after party and will be a look that I will think about a lot, I'm a sucker for diamonds and sparkles and this serves just the right amount of them. I love it so much!

TOP TIER:

Half of the judicial panel fell head over heels for the next two looks. Give it up for Eve and Guap Keke!

Eve

Mila: Eve went above and beyond with her godly look, giving me massive "Messiah of fashion" vibes. I love every decision made about it, the combo of this dress and the hair is doing bits for me. I'm a big fan of the limited accessories which nicely compliment the whole look but do not overwhelm it.

Ru: Eve is GLOWING! The only thing I see is a literal goddess standing there tbh. The way this dress wraps around her and everything from the hair to the accessories. If elegance was to be defined, this would definitely be it!

Alex: Not only did the glow from this look help you stand out but this whole look makes you stand out and shine like a literal star. The cherry on top for me is the hair accessories and how well it goes with this dress. The vines combined with the somewhat ruggedness of the dress perfectly mesh to create this stunning look.

Aizie: I honestly don't know where to start with this look, the god-like features, the thick gorgeous hair or the eye-catching beam from the dress. If she walks in a crowded room with this dress people will break their necks turning to watch her glisten across the hall, this is truly a piece of art. With a dress and a pose like that, you can't look at her once and have enough of her beauty.

Guap Keke

Lauryn: Here we have Guap Keke looking amazing in this Cher inspired ensemble. Lullih has done an amazing job with the details of this look. The beading is perfect, the hair is perfect, the body is perfect. I love the addition of the matching hoop earrings. It’s a perfect “10” to me.

Mila: Lauryn summed it up well - this look is just perfect. The combo of the gown and the gloves is next level. I love how balanced it is - lots of magic and party at the bottom, a bit calmer top with a bra and straps of the same fabric, which is then completed by a set of matching gloves. The long, black hair serves as a beautiful frame to this gorgeous fit.

Jean: Oh my god, purple has never looked so good. Guapkeke looks amazing in the Cher inspired look, I think we can all agree on that. The look consists of multiple elements, which compliment each other beautifully. The feathers, gloves, earrings, cut-outs, beading, makeup 💜 Oh and have you seen her hair?? I could go on and on about how much I loved this look.

Jane: This Cher-inspired look is absolutely mesmerising. The semi-transparent ensemble covered with subtle beading is stunning. Its ruching and cut-outs put the focus on the goddess-like figure and the bottom part of the skirt adds more fun to the look. The entire outfit is perfectly finished with subtle jewellery and the signature Cher hairstyle.

GOD TIER:

The very best looks of the night, absolute favourites, that made the greatest impressions on our judicial panel. Kiedis, Alex Fletcher and Nihil - congratulations!

Kiedis

Mila: Turns out, I'm Kiedis' biggest fan with 2/5 of my favourite looks belonging to this queen. These patterns are what I was really waiting for to see on the red carpet and I was actually slightly worried they would overwhelm the entire event. Even if that was the case (which it wasn’t), Kiedis would still manage to stand out. I'm in love with this look, I absolutely adore these different, yet kept in the same style, patterns on the gown and jacket, which together create a gorgeous, flowery, classy look that just screams ELITE. The hat deserves a massive shout-out as well, along with the ribbon whose purpose may not be exactly known to me, but which I am 100% here for.

Jean: I don't even know where to start. So many beautiful colors and patterns combined. Kiedis looks incredibly elegant. The skirt is beautifully draped, the jacket has ruffles with slightly flared sleeves and the hat with a veil is literally to die for. I also think the pointed shoe compliments the look very well and the lipcolor is just very hot ❤️. I would definitely want to have some tea time with Kiedis.

Alex: Honestly, at first this reminded me of fabrics I would see in my grandma's home however these patterns magically come together to create this soft beautiful ensemble. You look delicate and dainty and the details within the patterns really help to bring the whole thing together. One of my favorite looks of the night!

Jane: Kiedis' elegant look is an absolute show-stopper. The mix of colours and floral patterns makes a classic cut of dress and jacket interesting and fresh. The orange ribbon is intriguing. The wide-brimmed hat adorned with flowers adds a bit of mystery to the sophisticated visage of Kiedis.

Mikatsi: What is there even more to say...Kiedis nailed the overall theme and kept her style, coming up with an intricate and detailed look. The makeup is the final touch to an amazing outfit. This Emanuel Ungaro is a prime example of decadent fashion!

Alex Fletcher

Lauryn: Alex Fletcher couldn’t be any more stunning. Look at the material. The dress flows so beautifully. I love that the jacket has fur because without it it could have gotten lost. The accessories are perfect. The hair…. The hair! Did someone say Anna Nicole Smith? This look was a complete flex. This person knows fashion.

Alex: Miss Alex here came and is gone with the wind fabulous. This airy ensemble is stunning. From the reptiles around your neck to the piercing eyes, you demand attention and definitely got it from me in this look!

Ru: If you look closely at the details, you come to realise that this whole look, aside from being beautifully color coordinated, tells a story. Everything seems perfectly calculated from the ensemble of the fur to the thorny wristband, and the lizard necklace complimenting the gown and each empowering the look in its own way without overpowering one another.

Jean: There's so much movement in this look, and I love it. The Cavalli ensemble is a piece of art. Just look at it, Alex Fletcher can run me over honestly. I love the color combination, the fur makes it very elegant and there are great accessories added to the ensemble. It is a perfect whole. If Alex would ever walk past me, I would have looked back at least 5 times, because it's absolutely stunning.

Jane: I agree with Jean, this flowy dress is just a masterpiece. The intriguing colourful pattern on the simplistic silhouette catches the eye immediately. Everything is topped by this amazing structured hairstyle.

Nihil

Lauryn: Nihil…NIHIL! This queen knows how to make “extra'' look good! There is so much going on here and it all works so perfectly. The platforms alone need their own review. The print on the dress and handbag are gorgeous and unique. The ostrich feather jacket wraps around her body so beautifully. I could go on and on. Bravo!

Ru: Honestly, this gives a whole new meaning to the color red. Here, Nihil delivers elegance, power and uniqueness with this lovely blend of fiery red and pastels. I'm living for the prints on the dress and the handbag and how befitting they are to this look. Mindblown is the least I could say I am!

Alex: The pop of red almost made me pop a blood vessel from excitement. From head to toe (or bag) you are serving a straight face and body. The red and pastel blend perfectly to create this stunning look. At first I was speechless but now all I can do is gasp at how stunning you look!

Aizie: From the most obvious to the less obvious details, nihil rocks this look like it's all she knows how to do. Red was always one of the most challenging colors to style (or at least to me) but she's doing it like she was born in red. This look shows you how streetstyle and high fashion can mash up as if they belonged together all along. Take her to Tokyo fashion week and she'll end up on top of one of those vogue articles. I'm speechless.

Jane: Nihil as always proves her creativity has no limits. The graphic dress in light colours paired with a complementary bag is just stunning. The scrappy platforms are a terrific cherry on top.
